In the packaging industry, innovation is driven by one constant: evolving consumer expectations. As preferences change—whether toward greater convenience, sustainability, or safety—packaging solutions must adapt quickly and intelligently. At Muller Technology, we understand that this means more than delivering molds and automation systems. It means becoming a true partner in the design and development phase of packaging innovation.
Too often, automation and mold suppliers are brought in late in the process—tasked with building solutions for designs they had no hand in shaping. At Muller, we work differently. We actively collaborate with our customers from the outset, offering technical insight and real-world perspective that help shape packaging from concept to commercialization.
Our goal is not just to meet manufacturing requirements, but to help our customers solve real-world challenges—from reducing environmental impact to meeting stringent safety standards, all while maintaining manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
One recent project that showcases our integrated approach is the development of a specialized SNUS (smokeless tobacco pouch) package. This particular packaging required a clever and highly functional design, tailored to both user convenience and safety.
Here’s what the packaging had to deliver:
Two compartments: one for unused pouches and one for used pouches.
A hidden center compartment for used pouches, accessible only through a full twist of the lid.
A child-proof mechanism to ensure safety: a small twist grants access to unused pouches, while a complete twist unlocks the central used-pouch compartment.
This design presented multiple technical and user-experience challenges—but it was a perfect match for our team’s capabilities. Muller Technology contributed directly to the design optimization and engineering, helping to create a package that not only meets regulatory and functional needs, but also enhances the end-user experience.
Because innovation is central to what we do, we protect it thoughtfully. The intellectual property (IP) behind the SNUS packaging solution is currently owned by Muller Technology. However, we are committed to advancing the industry and are open to transferring this IP to qualified customers who work within this market segment and are in need of mold and automation solutions.
This flexibility allows our partners to confidently move forward with proven, ready-to-deploy packaging innovations—saving valuable time and resources in their product development cycles.
The SNUS project is just one example of how Muller Technology goes beyond traditional roles in the packaging supply chain. Our team brings decades of expertise, cutting-edge engineering, and a deep commitment to collaboration, helping our customers not just build better packaging—but build packaging better.
Whether you're facing new compliance requirements, tackling a design for sustainability, or launching a breakthrough consumer product, Muller Technology is ready to support your journey—from concept through production.
